Former Gilligan's Island star caught with marijuana in car
A surprise birthday party for Dawn Wells, the actress who played Mary Ann on "Gilligan's Island," ended with a nearly three-hour tour of the Teton County sheriff's office and jail when the 69-year-old was caught with marijuana in her vehicle while driving home.
Wells is now serving six months' unsupervised probation for the crime. She was sentenced Feb. 29 to five days in jail, fined $410.50 and placed on probation after pleading guilty to one count of reckless driving.
When Gutierrez asked why he could smell marijuana, Wells reportedly told him that she'd just given a ride to three hitchhikers and had dropped them off when they began smoking something. When Gutierrez searched the car, he found three half-smoked joints in the ashtray and console, according to the report. A second search after Wells' arrest netted a fourth half-smoked joint and two small cases used to store marijuana, Gutierrez said.

Canada's Jason Jones and Samantha Bee promise to catch the baby bandwagon cash-in on their second time around.
The couple, who appear together on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," married in 2001. Bee gave birth to their first child, Piper, in 2006.
Three weeks after Piper was born, Jones brought his daughter on the show in an effort to impress Jon Stewart with his parenting skills, and has appeared many times since.
Bee is now pregnant with the couple's second child.
Jones promises that now, in this time of multi-million dollar baby shoots, things are going to be different for child number two.
"If there's anything we learned, is that we didn't get enough money for our daughter's appearances on the show," says Jones during an interview with eTalk.
"This son is going to rake it in."
Thanks to the busy political season south of the border, there will be little downtime for Jones and Bee, who are planning on reporting at the Democratic and Republican conventions later this year.
eTalk had caught up to the couple when they were shooting an indie film called "Cooper's Camera," which looks at a family's worst Christmas ever in 1985.
