How will the Daily Show handle Barack Obama's presidency?

John Hodgman responds:

"There certainly is a question mark in terms of what sort of jokes they're going to be, and what the tenor of times are going to be, and where the humor is, but as trained comedy professionals, they're thoroughbreds, they want to run," said Mr. Hodgman of the show's writers. "They're eager to try out some new stuff. I think it's an unbalanced time for everybody. While they try to figure out what kind of jokes to make, I'm trying to figure out-maybe I should start showering in the evenings? It's time to change up the routine."

South Park Draws First Comedic Blood on Obama

For months, comedians have been worried about the possibility of an Obama Presidency and how hard it might be to make fun of him (personally, I think they've just been spoiled by Bush the last eight years).

Last night, less than 24 hours after Obama's win, South Park put the comedic world on notice - making Obama's presidency very funny.

Note: It's worth watching the full episode as the clip below only gives a brief lead in. Essentially, Obama and McCain are secret agents working together to steal the "Hope" Diamond. Palin and Michelle are in on it as well.

Obama Boosts Daily Show Ratings to New Record

Says Reuters, "The 11 p.m. episode, which featured an appearance by presidential candidate Barack Obama, averaged 3.6 million total viewers, beating by 600,000 viewers the previous record set October 8 when his wife Michelle Obama appeared on the show."
