All About Hugo Chavez

Venezuela's leader, Hugo Chavez, was discussed on the show last night. Chavez, at present, wishes to extend the presidentional terms in Venezuela.

He also recently purchased thousands of weapons from Russia in case the United States invades his country.

Jon replied by questioning why the US would ever want to invade an oil rich country controlled by a dictator??  Hmmm ... does this scenario sound familiar?

Nikolas Kozloff was then on the show to talk about the book that he recently wrote about Hugo Chavez.

Kozloff said that Hugo is a larger than life, bombastic character - in fact, he publicly denounced Bush and called him (brace yourself now) a donkey.

Kozloff defended Chavez and said that Venezuela is not a threat to the US, but in fact the US can be a threat to Venezuela.  He then went on to say that the US government was directly involved in the 2002 coup d'etat in Venezuela.

He also mentioned that Chavez has a 70% popularity rating in that part of the world, and that Chavez is not a threat to the rest of South America.

What's the latest breaking news on Chavez?  Well, he very recently offered a 20% discount on oil slated for use on London's city buses.  In exchange, lower income individuals will receive a 50% bus fare discount.
